12 AUGUST Paisajes Piano Festival (Spain) Cops (1922) and Sherlock Jnr (1924) by Buster Keaton Music composed and performed by Ashley Hribar on piano+electronics+various gadgets Last year at the CIMF in Australia, I had the privilege of premiering original scores to a selection of Buster Keaton’s outrageously inventive silent films in a brilliant fusion of humour and action. This year, I’m honoured to bring these compositions to life once again at the Piano Festival in Paisajes, a magically enchanting venue nestled deep in the Spanish outback near Hoyos, just three hours from Madrid and close to the Portuguese border. I’m excited to share the stage with a remarkable group of musicians — explore the full program here. 2025 has begun in full creative flow. I’m especially grateful to the Adelaide Ballet for commissioning the music for Murray Whispers. This ballet is a proudly South Australian collaboration, featuring choreography by Sarah Humeniuk and Rejane Garcia, (Adelaide Ballet founders) immersive visuals by Thomas Oates and Scott Baskett, and costume design by Kira Bayliss. I’m thrilled to be part of this new homegrown artistic endeavour. © photo Alexander Waite Mitchell "Through breathtaking movement, immersive visuals and sound, it invites the audience to pause and listen to the land's pulse, the water's hush, and the whispers that carry across time."
